What is just.me?

just.me is an easy, fast and simple mobile messaging platform. just.me brings the functionality of texting, email and other messaging apps all into one place so you can send unlimited messages from one app complete with photos, videos, voice and text - and all for free.

And just.me makes it unnecessary for you to join a social network in order to capture and share the moments of your life. just.me puts you in control as to whether to keep messages and moments private, or whether to share them with a limited group or even publish them for the world to see.

At just.me it is all about you.

For more about just.me, click here.

What can I use just.me to do?

You can use just.me to message, post, and so much more.

  • You can share and discuss pictures and videos with your family after a vacation, or send voice messages to your friends and colleagues.
  • you can send an unlimited number of photos, videos and voice recordings in a single message.
  • You can maintain a highly visual private journal, or to publish events the world should know about to the public stream and to your social networks.
  • You can also recall every message you created and sent, through your own private cloud on just.me.

How is just.me different from email?

Email is a great tool for people to use to communicate, but it is still burdensome when sharing media and discussing and commenting in groups or with the public.

Unlike email, just.me allows you to maintain rich, visual communication through an interactive and social messaging platform. just.me also allows you to maintain a highly visual private journal, or to publish events the world should know about to the public stream and to your social networks. You can also use just.me to recall every message you created and sent, through your own private cloud on just.me.

How is just.me different from SMS?

SMS is still the most popular form of mobile communication today. Unlike SMS, just.me allows you to interact with friends, family and contacts through a visual and social mobile messaging platform. just.me further enables you to keep messages for your future self, in a private "for your eyes only" journal, or to publish events the world should know about to the public stream and to your social networks.

How is just.me different from Facebook?

Facebook has grown to support a multitude of new features in recent years. Unlike Facebook, just.me has taken a mobile first approach to building our app, without restricting you from sharing with friends that have not installed just.me. With just.me you can share with anyone and everyone you know, regardless of whether they have just.me on the device they own.

How is just.me different from Twitter?

Twitter is a great app to learn about what's happening around you and the world in real time. At just.me we believe that sharing publicly is but one of the ways people communicate and share information with themselves or their friends and colleagues. just.me enables you to keep messages for your future self, in a private "for your eyes only" journal, or to selectively share with anyone and everyone you know, regardless of whether they have just.me or their mobile device. just.me also allows you to publish events that you want the world to know about in the just.me public stream or to your choice of social networks. In all cases, you control where and what content is shared with whom.

How does just.me use my phone number, email address and my address book?

Important for your privacy, just.me never downloads your address book to our server, and just.me never automatically takes information from your address book and puts it into your account record.

Instead, we explicitly ask you to validate your identities (e.g., email addresses and phone number) to allow others to contact you through just.me. The only information that goes from your address book to our service is encrypted copies of email addresses and phone numbers for your contacts. We do this so that the app knows which of your contacts can be directly messaged using just.me as they join the service. just.me itself never knows who those individuals are, or what their email addresses or phone numbers are, due to the encryption. Only you know who they are and so you receive all of the benefit.

Is my information secure on just.me?

just.me takes your privacy and data security very seriously. All of the communication between our server and your mobile device is encrypted and secure. We encrypt all phone to server text-based communication using SSL. Our web site also supports the use of https.

How much does it cost to use just.me?

Using just.me is free. We allow you to send messages to your contacts via email and SMS, even if they do not have the app. You can attach multiple photos, videos and voice messages to any message, while sending unlimited messages. (Of course, spamming using just.me is not allowed. See our User Policy.) To use just.me you need to have wifi or a data connection available, and carrier charges may apply.

What devices can I use to access just.me?

just.me is currently available on all iPhone and iPod devices. We plan to support Android and other devices soon!

How can I help just.me become even better?

We at the just.me team are always looking to provide a better service to our uses. Please email us at support@just.me with any thoughts you would like to share.

Does just.me receive my emails or SMS?

just.me does not pull in any of your emails OR SMS's. just.me is a mobile messaging app that leverages email and SMS to send messages to people in your address book that do not have a just.me account associated with the mobile number or email you have stored.

How do I download just.me?

just.me is currently available for iPhone and iPod users around the world through the App Store. You can find the link on our main page at www.just.me. We will soon have our Android version ready as well.

How do I start using just.me? What do I do if I am a new user?

just.me is simple to use. Just validate any email addresses and phone numbers that you want others to be able to use to get messages to you. just.me does not burden you with yet another new ID and password for you to remember. To validate these ID's, simply add your details to your profile by swiping right, then tapping Profile. After adding your email and/or mobile number, click the link in the emails or SMS's we send you for confirmation.

Swipe Right > Tap Profile > Tap Add Your Name and Details > Enter your Full Name > Next > Add your Email and Phone > Enter your Handle > Done

Until you validate your ID's, you will be limited in your use of just.me to only being able to read welcome messages, messages sent to you and messages published in the public stream. You will not be able to create or reply to messages, use the 'share' or 'private' features of just.me, or to like or comment on media of others.

If you already have a just.me account and want to add a new device

just.me currently works on iPhone and iPod devices, and soon will work on all of your mobile devices. Any device to which you add just.me as an app will start to behave the same as any other device you have it on.

All you have to do is to go to your settings by swiping right, then tap Settings (you may need to scroll down to see Settings) and tap "Add this Device to your Existing Account". Type in one of your identities (e.g., email address or phone number) and we'll put them onto the new device. You will need to validate one identity in order to achieve this. You will get an email or an SMS asking you to validate your identity. Simply click the link in the message and your new device will be ready to use with just.me.

Swipe Right > Settings > Add this device to your existing just.me account

How can I invite someone to just.me?

People get way too many invitations from various social networks and mobile apps these days. We made it easy. If you'd like someone to join just.me, simply share a message with them.

Your message will be delivered to them using either their email address or SMS, depending on what you have for them in your address book. Once they receive your message, it will include the ability for them to both view your message and to download just.me if they so choose. The good news is whether or not they download just.me, they can read your message so you can be confident that whomever you send a message to will receive it.

If they wish to do more than view, comment on, or like your message (for example, save it or reply to it) then they will need to install the just.me app. This will be simple too, as there will be a download link available to them in the message if they wish to do so.

You will get an email or an SMS asking you to validate your identity.

You agree not to use or launch any automated system, including without limitation, "robots," "spiders," "offline readers," etc. or "load testers" that accesses the Service in a manner that sends more request messages to the just.me servers in a given period of time than a human can reasonably produce in the same period by using a just.me application, and you are forbidden from ripping the content unless specifically allowed. Notwithstanding the foregoing, just.me may grant the operators of public search engines permission to use spiders to copy materials from the public portions of the App for the sole purpose of creating publicly available searchable indices of the materials, but not caches or archives of such materials. Just.me reserves the right to revoke these exceptions either generally or in specific cases. You agree not to reverse- engineer our system, our protocols, or explore outside the boundaries of the normal requests made by just.me clients. You agree not use any tools to explore or harm, penetrate or test the App. You must secure our permission before you measure, test, health check or otherwise monitor any network equipment, servers or assets hosted on our domain. You agree not to collect or harvest any personally identifiable information, including account names, from the Service, nor to use the communication systems provided by the Service for any commercial solicitation or spam purposes. You agree not to solicit, for commercial purposes, any users of the Service with respect to their public posts.

Content Submissions

Our Service allows you and other users to post and take Content to and from the App. You are responsible for the Content, whether publicly posted or privately transmitted, that you post to the Service, including its legality, reliability, and appropriateness. We monitor all Public Content posted via the Service and allow you and other users to flag inappropriate content. We will remove any inappropriate content, regardless of how it is discovered and in addition will delete accounts of those users that continue to post inappropriate content. However, despite the aforementioned efforts, you understand that by using the Service you may be exposed to Content that might be offensive, harmful, inaccurate, deceptive or inappropriate. Under no circumstances will just.me be liable in any way for any Content, including, but not limited to, any errors or omissions in any Content, or any loss or damage of any kind incurred as a result of the use of any Content posted, transmitted or otherwise made available via the Service or broadcast elsewhere. Within this framework, you agree that by posting to the Service, you grant us a worldwide, non- exclusive, royalty-free license (with the right to sublicense) to use, copy, reproduce, process, adapt, modify, publish, transmit, display and distribute such Content in any and all media or distribution methods (now known or later developed) on and through the Service. You agree this license includes the right for just.me to provide, promote and improve the Service. You agree that this license includes the right for us to make your Content available to other users of the Service as described in the last sentence of this paragraph, who may also use your Content subject to these Terms. You retain any and all of your rights to any Content you submit, post or display on or through the Service and you are responsible for protecting those rights. just.me will not make your Content available to others unless you marked it as "Shared" - then it will be available to other individuals you chose to share it with - or "Public" - then it will be available to all to see, subject to these Terms.

In the initial release of just.me there is no ability for users to delete content. You can remove Content that you posted in the initial release by specifically emailing support@just.me with your just.me handle and the title and date of the message you wish to delete. In certain instances, however, some Content (such as public posts or comments you make) may not be completely removed and copies of your Content may continue to exist on parts of the Service and/or elsewhere. We are not responsible or liable for the removal or deletion of (or the failure to remove or delete) any Public Content on the Service unless it has been reported to us and is deemed inappropriate. Our intent is to provide users with the ability to delete, and even recall, messages in subsequent releases of the just.me.

You represent and warrant that: (i) the Content is yours (you own it), or you have the right to use it and grant us the rights and license as provided in these Terms, and (ii) the posting of your Content on or through the Service does not violate the privacy rights, publicity rights, copyrights, contract rights or any other rights of any person.

Known Issues

This is the just.me iPhone and Web, "Known Issues" list.

The purpose of this list is to notify testers of the bugs that just.me is aware of and working on.

Please let us know about any others at support@just.me.

Message streams (personal and public)

  • When you mention another just.me user inside a comment the use of *user will not result in a clickable link in the comment. This functionality works fine in a regular text message, whether private, public or shared.
  • In the Public messages stream, when using the Views screen 'I Follow' and 'Popular' views do not filter on the relevant data.
  • If you attempt to save or share a Message when you have little or no bandwidth just.me may post your message multiple times. this will result in you seeing multiple copies of that message in your personal messages stream.
  • It is not possible to search either the personal or public message stream.
  • It is not possible to delete either a public or personal message.

Capture and Camera related issues

  • The number of items in a single message is limited to 10. We will inform you when this limit is removed.
  • Some of the images captured are shown sideways in the native iOS Gallery. You can work around this by taking pictures with the native camera and then loading them into a just.me message.

Message Compose Screen issues

  • The Subject of a message is limited to 160 characters.
  • The text of a Message is limited to 1000 characters.

Getting Started

Once you have installed the just.me app you will be able to view your 'Personal' messages, the 'Public' stream, your 'Contacts' list, and the 'Me' screen. You can also send a message with media by pressing the just.me icon in the center of the just.me task bar.

You then have several ways to personalize just.me.

You can either send a message by hitting the just.me icon or go to the 'Public' stream and like or comment on a post. Any of these actions will automatically lead you through the personalization.

Or, without taking any action, you can just go to the 'Me' tab on the bottom of the app to personalize just.me.

In the middle of the 'Me' screen it says "add your name and details". Just press there and then enter --

  1. Your Name
  2. Your email address and/or mobile number (this is used to send you messages on just.me).
  3. A 'handle' that you want to be referred to inside just.me - we use the asterisk in front of the name (so Keith's is *kteare).
  4. You can also add a photo. This makes your 'Me' page more beautiful.

You will receive an email to validate that you are the owner of the email. Once you click on the link in the email then you are good to go.

You can now comment, like, reply and create your own messages.

You can also 'Follow' others and be 'Followed'. Try tapping on a person's icon next to their message to see how to follow a person.

There are a lot of features in just.me but they are intuitive, so feel free to search around and try them out.

We hope you enjoy just.me.
